Beijing Huaqi Information Digital Technology Co., Ltd. of China unveiled the “F029″ wristwatch at the 2007 International CES event. The watch also works as an audio and movie player. The company has already released it in the Chinese market in summer 2006 and European market in November 2006. The F029 has a 1.3-inch, 26,000-color organic EL display panel with 160 x 128 pixel resolution. The F029 supports playback of MP3, WMA, OGG music files, and AVI video files, as well as still images. Such data can be stored in Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.’s 1 GB flash memory embedded within the watch through a USB 2.0 interface. The wristwatch can also record sound and has a headphone jack. With the built-in Li-ion rechargeable secondary battery, the F029 can play video and audio contents for about 2.5 and 4 hours, respectively. It can be used as a standard wristwatch when playing no audio or video contents. Beijing Huaqi markets its products under a brand name of “Aigo” [patriot] in the European and US markets. The watch is already available in Europe and is set for U.S. introduction soon; date and price are to be announced, though the price is estimated to be around $120 (USD).
